The One Wild Brand Podcast

Where creative strategy meets wild growth.

If you’ve ever wondered why your leads are dropping off, the problem might be hiding in plain sight — your website. In fact, there are a few website mistakes costing you clients that most business owners don’t even realize they’re making.

I’ve seen it happen countless times. A beautiful new design launches… and then nothing. No new inquiries. No bump in sales. That’s because your site needs more than good looks — it needs strategy. Let’s look at the three most common culprits and how to fix them.

1. You’ve Never Run a Site Health Test

Your website could look amazing on the outside but be a mess under the hood. Slow load times, broken links, or pages that don’t display correctly on mobile are all silent deal-breakers.

Tools like Ahrefs’ free site audit can give you a site health score from 1–100 and pinpoint exactly what’s wrong — from oversized images to missing meta tags.

Aim for a score of 90+. If yours is lower, start by fixing the highest-priority issues Ahrefs flags. Even small improvements can make your site faster, smoother, and more trustworthy.

2. Not Enough Clear Calls-to-Action

If your website isn’t telling people what to do next, they won’t do anything.

Every page should guide visitors toward a specific action — whether that’s booking a call, signing up for your newsletter, or making a purchase.

One of my current web design clients offers a book, consulting services, and speaking gigs. We’re showcasing all of it beautifully, but the main thing we want her ideal audience to do is book a call. So every page has clear, visible CTAs leading straight to her calendar.

The takeaway? Decide on your primary goal, and make it obvious at every click.

3. Branding That Feels All Over the Place

Your branding isn’t just your logo — it’s your colors, fonts, images, and overall style. If those elements aren’t consistent, visitors will notice (even if they can’t put their finger on why something feels “off”).

Inconsistent branding makes you look less professional and less trustworthy. The fix? Create a brand kit with your exact colors, fonts, and design rules so everything you put out — from your homepage to your Instagram feed — feels cohesive. Need a brand consistency checklist? I've got that, grab it here!

Bringing It All Together

These fixes might sound small, but they can completely change the way people experience your business online.

A high site health score builds trust.

Clear CTAs lead people exactly where you want them to go.

Consistent branding makes you memorable.
